"Plains 'Indian Chief'" carries a weapon as he rides horseback. Stereotypical "Indian" sports team tokens "freeze" First Nations in a romaticized historic period that never existed, gloss over the genocidal horror inflicted upon them, and creates barriers that prevent students from acquiring a more accurate understanding of both historic and contemporary Indigenous Peoples. |
