Almost identical to the cover used on the 1994 Port Jervis yearbook, this "Side-profile, 'Indian Chief'
with 'Plains-style' headdress" has been slightly altered so that the image's nose is
not so grossly "hooked." This modification and other front cover yearbook
"Indian" images are probably the handiwork of the district's art teachers
and designed to present "noble 'Indian'" images. Note that in all cases, the ethnically motivated icons are that of a male which makes them sexist as well as racist. |
